To aid in diagnosis and defining the extent of some medical conditions, the ultrasound scan uses high-frequency sound waves to create an image of the inner body parts eg Liver, Kidneys, Bladder, fetal (baby) development etc, hence helping the doctors to appropriately manage the conditions.
Ultrasound scans to expect
Most ultrasound scans take between 15 – 45 minutes. There are different types of scans depending on which part of the body is being scanned and why. The type of ultrasound you will have will be explained to you beforehand.
